ABOUT US

Falcon Waterfree Technologies was formed with a vision: to promote conservation of the Earth's precious supply of fresh water and support sustainable resource management by becoming the leading waterless urinal system provider in the world.

For over ten years and with over 350,000 urinals in operation, Falcon has led the way for sustainability in washrooms. Since then, acceptance and interest in waterless urinal systems has grown as the world's leadership has adopted a greater sense of urgency about finding solutions for a future where fresh water may be less available and certainly more costly. The touch free Falcon Waterfree system uses no energy and has no moving parts that can break down. End users save water and sewer costs, reduce electricity usage and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions while improving hygiene. Most importantly, Falcon Waterfree urinals do not unnecessarily waste our fresh water supply. Falcon Waterfree urinals are odorless and research has demonstrated that the Falcon urinal has five times less bacteria than the average flush or low flush urinal and is virtually maintenance free except for a normal spray cleaning by the janitorial staff.

A Proven Solution to the Growing Water Crisis

Falcon Waterfree urinals are a positive contributor to the environmental health of the world. As much as 5 percent of our supply of fresh water is used to carry away urine. On average each Falcon Waterfree urinal saves 40,000 gallons (151,000 liters) or more of fresh water per year. Since the system is waterless, no energy is used to source, transport, or treat this water, nor do the Falcon Waterfree urinals produce carbon dioxide emissions as a byproduct of its treatment. Finally, by reducing total load on treatment plants, our waterless urinal system can reduce the need for costly water treatment capacity and reduce the incidence of overflow events at treatment facilities.

Falcon Waterfree urinals are also economically advantageous. Each Falcon Waterfree urinal saves 100% of the water flowing through traditional flush urinals, and therefore, 100% of the water charges. There is very little maintenance cost on a waterless urinal, as there are no moving parts and no flushometer. Free of hard water, drain lines remain free of calcification. The only maintenance is an easy replacement of the waterless urinal cartridge, a process that takes less than 5 minutes. With the world's fresh water supply shrinking, Falcon Waterfree urinals provide a viable solution that, in most cases, pays for itself in a very short period of time by reducing maintenance, energy and water savings.

A Global Focus and Presence

We conduct business worldwide, with manufacturing facilities in 7 countries as well as offices and affiliates in more than 50 nations.

Our urinals are manufactured and marketed in different regions of the world by recognized leaders in the plumbing and hygiene industry, including:

Several more leaders in the plumbing industry have also joined our team of domestic and global partners. Together, we have installed more than 350,000 Falcon Waterfree urinal systems to date, with an eye on replacing a healthy share of the more than 100 million water-using urinals already installed. It's the way we'll meet our vision: to promote conservation of the Earth's precious supply of fresh water and to support sustainable resource management by becoming the leading waterless urinal system provider in the world.

Falcon Waterfree Technologies Develops and Provides Advanced Waterless Urinal Systems

Founded in 2000, Falcon Waterfree Technologies manufactures and markets advanced waterless urinal technology for commercial, institutional, and government facilities. Falcon Waterfree conducts business worldwide, with manufacturing facilities in 7 countries as well as offices and affiliates in more than 50 nations. The primary owners of Falcon Waterfree Technologies are Mapleton Investments and Capricorn Investment Group. Both companies were founded by noted entrepreneurs and environmentalists, Marc Nathanson and Jeff Skoll. The goals of the owners are to continue to innovate and improve Falcon's technology and to replace flush urinals throughout the world with our or other waterfree models. The owners believe that there is absolutely no reason to waste water by flushing a urinal. This is Falcon's vision; to promote conservation of the Earth's precious resources and support sustainable resource management by becoming the leading water savings system in the bathroom. We can no longer take fresh water for granted and we must protect our water supply from being unnecessarily wasted.

Mapleton Investments is one of the investment vehicles for the Nathanson Family and the Nathanson Family Foundations. Mapleton Investments focuses in equity markets, real estate, communications and environmental friendly technologies. The firm was founded in 1999 and manages over $500 million of assets. It is based in Los Angeles.

Capricorn Investment Group manages $4 billion in a long term focused global fund. The firm was founded as the investment platform for Jeff Skoll and the Skoll Foundation. Capricorn Investment Group is based in New York and Palo Alto, California.

Globally Adopted

A broad range of facilities with environmental and financial sustainability goals choose Falcon Waterfree urinals for reliable and unsurpassed performance in hundreds of prestigious locations such as: Bank of America Tower - New York City, Staples Center - Los Angeles, Beijing International Airport - Beijing, Hollywood Bowl - Los Angeles, Taj Mahal - India, Terminal 1 Heathrow Airport - London, Banque de France - Paris, Camp Nou Stadium - Barcelona, San Jose International Airport - Costa Rica.

Acceptance and interest in waterless urinal systems have grown as the world's leadership has adopted a greater sense of urgency about finding solutions for a future where fresh water may be less available and certainly more costly. With an estimated 100 million flush urinals installed globally; the potential benefit of waterless urinals is significant.

Innnovative Products

Falcon Waterfree urinals utilize a patented cartridge with a biodegradable liquid sealant, which acts as a barrier to provide odor-free operation. Our waterless urinals are also designed for specific global regions in several styles, colors and materials. The urinals are primarily marketed as the Falcon Waterfree brand but also marketed as Sloan Waterfree, Ideal Standard, Porcher, and Armitage Shanks brands in specific global regions.

Benefits

Each Falcon Waterfree Urinal saves an average of 40,000 gallons of treated, fresh water each year. That is the equivalent of nearly nine full tanker trucks of water that could be used for more essential purposes.

With Falcon technology, water does not have to be pumped to or from the urinal. This significant energy savings dramatically reduces carbon dioxide emissions – emissions that contribute to global warming. Each Falcon Waterfree urinal saves up to 720 pounds of CO2 per year.

Falcon Waterfree products decrease the demand placed on wastewater treatment plants, reducing the risk of sewage overflows.

Falcon Waterfree urinals promote the water conservation goals of the LEED Green Building Rating System. Up to 13% of the points required for LEED – EBOM certification can be earned by retrofitting existing urinals with Falcon Waterfree urinals.

Improve hygiene – Five times fewer bacteria and no flush plumes mean that your bathrooms will be drier and cleaner.

Falcon Waterfree urinals are less expensive to purchase and install because they have no flushing mechanism. A drain line and about an hour of time for installation is all that is required. Costs are even lower in new construction, because no water supply lines are needed.

Falcon Waterfree urinals save 100% of the water charges and reduce sewer charges, both of which are sure to rise in the future. While ultra-low flush urinals may use little water, they rely on valves that are prone to leaks, wasting tremendous amounts of water and money.

Since Falcon Waterfree urinals require no flushometers, plumbing emergencies are eliminated. There are no costs to repair stuck or broken valves and no costly cleanup of flooding caused by clogged drains.

Awards and Recognitions

Falcon has received numerous awards and acknowledgements for its innovative waterless urinal technology and design, including: Global Green USA; Environmental Media Association (EMA) Board of Directors Ongoing Commitment Award; Japan Energy Conservation; The Artemis Project "Top 50 Water Company"; Building Operating Management magazine "Readers' Choice"; Sustainable Facility Magazine "Top Product"; N. Carolina DOT "Most Outstanding"; ADEX Platinum Award for Design Excellence; organicARCHITECT "organicAWARD"; Today's Facility Manager "Best of Show"; American School & University Magazine "Top Product"; Building Operations Management magazine "Top Product"; InnovationWorld IW21.

World-Class Team
